John LaMacchia is an American artist known for his wit and humor that celebrates the subversive potential of beauty and the profane.
LaMacchia received his BFA in Advertising and Graphic Design at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. He started his career as an art director, winning awards around the world including those at Cannes as well as an Emmy nomination. Paralleling big agency life LaMacchia began his investigation into the art world using similar techniques found in advertising.
His works have been included in various exhibitions. His artist books and prints have sold at Dia Center, The New Museum, NY, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, MoMA / PS 1 and Printed Matter to name a few.
Most recently his collaborative series ‘Birds of America,’ has been acquired by The Huntington Museum and Library, for their private collection.
